NixOS system generations give you atomic, bootloader-integrated rollbacks. A kernel update breaks Wi-Fi? Reboot, pick the previous generation, run nixos-rebuild switch --rollback. Done. But generations consume disk space and don't touch user data — here's how to manage both.
Netlify's immutable, content-addressed deploys make rollback an atomic pointer swap instead of a rebuild. Here's how to use that as your first incident response — and where it stops helping.
Goal Ensure that after applying a DOM schema change (such as adding or removing custom data‑attributes) and then rolling back those changes, every intermediate mutation is captured so the rollback can restore the exact original state without leaving stray nodes or attributes. Constraints and uncertainty Internet Explorer 10 provides the MutationObserver API,
Goal Recover a clean Kaldi environment after an unsuccessful upgrade of the nnet3 training scripts, preserving all existing data and model files. Context & Constraints The upgrade was performed from Kaldi 4.2 to 4.3. The build process terminated with a non‑fatal error, leaving the src directory partially updated. All training data and pre‑trained models
Upgrading a Bamboo server safely depends on having a verified backup, applying the new binaries, and confirming that core functions such as plan execution, agent connectivity, and integrated tools operate as expected before declaring the upgrade successful. However, it is uncertain what specific verification criteria should trigger a rollback, how to ensure
I need to upgrade the Bash package on an AlmaLinux system while minimizing risk and preserving the ability to roll back if the update causes problems. I plan to back up configuration files and possibly take a system snapshot, but I am uncertain about the best practices for selecting which files to back up, how to verify the new Bash version works correctly,
Upgrading to a newer Blender release while keeping the option to revert to the current version requires preserving the existing installation, user preferences, add‑ons, and project files. The main uncertainty lies in where Blender stores its data and how to duplicate or back up these locations without interfering with the new install. What is the recommended
When using Eclipse Data Tools Platform (DTP) to apply a schema change such as adding a column or modifying a table definition, the operation is typically executed as a plain SQL script. Because many relational databases do not support transactional DDL, a failure part‑way through the script can leave the database in a partially altered state, making a simple
I am developing a Fastify plugin that adds a decorator based on the current database schema. When I need to alter the schema, I want to be able to revert the plugin’s changes if the migration fails, while keeping the plugin encapsulated and its dependencies validated through fastify-plugin. The plugin is registered with a name, dependencies, and encapsulate:
nixos
netlify
kaldi
bamboo
bash
blender
eclipse
