Flashback Query lets you read data as of a past SCN without backups. The undo tablespace must keep enough undo data for the longest query window; otherwise you’ll hit ORA-01555. A minimal design uses a single flashback‑enabled tablespace with UNDO_RETENTION set appropriately.
