When using the Merge Visible Layers command on an image that contains layers with associated layer masks, the expected result is a single layer that visually matches the on‑screen preview, which includes the mask’s effect. It is unclear whether GIMP evaluates the mask visibility before merging or simply copies the raw pixel data, which could produce a merged
