वंदे भारत Sleeper: Bengaluru–Mumbai और Delhi–Varanasi Routes, Fares और Launch Date Explained
Google Trends India showed a 1000% rise in 'वंदे भारत' searches on 4 Oct 2026. Here is what the proposed Bengaluru–Mumbai and New Delhi–Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper reports say about routes, fares and launch dates.
15 Oct 2026, 23:42 UTC

On 4 October 2026, the Hindi term वंदे भारत appeared as a trending search on Google Trends India, with roughly 10,000 searches and 1000% growth in the past-24-hour window (Google Trends India). The spike was driven by fresh media reports about proposed Vande Bharat Sleeper services on two long-distance routes, not by a confirmed nationwide rollout. Google Trends measures search interest only; it does not verify whether a train is running, what its final fare will be, or which stations it will stop at.
Why वंदे भारत trended in early October 2026
The trend signal was observed at 08:09 UTC on 4 October 2026. Around the same time, two published reports were circulating: one about a Bengaluru–Mumbai sleeper service and another about a New Delhi–Varanasi service via Prayagraj. Both used conditional language, and neither fetched report confirmed that the trains had actually commenced operations by the observation date.
Proposed Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper
An Aaj Tak report dated 3 October 2026 said the service could start in October. The proposed route is about 1,137 km long, fully electrified and largely double-tracked, with capacity for speeds up to 130 km/h on most sections. Existing trains take roughly 22–24 hours one way; the proposed timetable would cut that to 16 hours 5 minutes southbound and about 15 hours 45 minutes on the return, saving passengers an estimated 6–8 hours.
Under the proposed timetable, the train would leave SMVT Bengaluru at 7:50 PM and reach CSMT Mumbai at 11:55 AM the next day. The return would depart CSMT at 8:10 PM and arrive in Bengaluru at 11:55 AM. Reported stoppages include Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan, though the report noted that final confirmation on stoppages and train numbers was still pending. Possible numbers 27651/27652 were cited.
The report described 16-coach trainsets built by BEML under the ICF programme, with 11 3AC, 4 2AC and 1 1AC coaches. An estimated one-way 3AC fare of around ₹3,000, including meals, was mentioned. Two trainsets were said to be ready—one at Bengaluru Cantonment and another near Bangarapet—with a formal handover to South Western Railway expected soon. The route was first announced in September 2025, and there were demands to start the service from KSR Bengaluru rather than SMVT Bengaluru.
Proposed New Delhi–Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper via Prayagraj
A Prabhat Khabar report dated 29 September 2026 said preparations had intensified for a 16-coach New Delhi–Varanasi Vande Bharat Sleeper Express via Prayagraj. The report suggested Prime Minister Narendra Modi could flag off the train on 12 October 2026, but explicitly noted that the Railway Board would make an official announcement only after final PMO approval. As of that report, the date remained a possibility rather than a confirmed event.
What is confirmed and what is still pending
Readers should separate announcement from effective date. The Bengaluru–Mumbai route was announced in September 2025, but the 3 October 2026 report still described the start date, stoppages and train numbers as awaiting a final railway announcement. The New Delhi–Varanasi service was reported as a likely 12 October flag-off subject to approval. Neither fetched source confirms that either train had begun commercial service by 4 October 2026.
| Route | Report date | Proposed timing | Status as per report |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bengaluru – Mumbai | 3 Oct 2026 | 16h 05m / 15h 45m | October start expected; final railway announcement pending |
| New Delhi – Varanasi via Prayagraj | 29 Sep 2026 | Overnight sleeper | Possible 12 Oct flag-off; subject to Railway Board and PMO approval |
For booking, fares and live status, official Indian Railways and IRCTC notifications remain the authoritative source. Media estimates of fares and timetables can change before the first commercial run.
Why sleeper Vande Bharat trains matter
The Aaj Tak report noted that the Bengaluru–Mumbai train was designed keeping in mind the needs of passengers travelling long distances at night. Because the route is fully electrified and double-tracked, with most sections capable of 130 km/h, it was described as a better option for fast train service. If the proposed timetable and fares are notified, the service could give flyers a rail alternative on these corridors.
