iQOO 16: Specs, Leaked India Price and Buying Advice vs iQOO 15

China launch and core specifications

The iQOO 16 was officially unveiled in China on September 29, 2026. According to GSMArena, the device features the Snapdragon 8 Extreme Gen 6 chipset, a 6.85‑inch Samsung M16 AMOLED display with 165 Hz refresh rate and up to 10,000 nits peak brightness, and an 8,400 mAh battery supporting 100 W wired and 40 W wireless charging.[1]

The rear camera system consists of a triple 50 MP setup (main, ultrawide, and periscope telephoto with 3× optical zoom) and a fixed‑focus 32 MP front camera. It runs Android 17 with OriginOS 7 and carries IP68/IP69 dust‑water resistance.[1]

India testing and price leak

Tipster Yogesh Brar reported on October 2, 2026 that the iQOO 16 is undergoing testing in India, hinting at a possible future launch despite earlier concerns about high component costs.[2]

The phone has not yet appeared on India’s BIS certification database, indicating regulatory approval is still pending.[2]

A price leak on October 4, 2026 listed the iQOO 16 at ₹86,999 in India.[3]

TelecomTalk highlighted that this figure is close to the converted China base price of CNY 5,999 (≈₹86,000) and only ₹1,000 higher than the current iQOO 15 launch price of ₹85,999.[3]

Comparison with iQOO 15

Compared to the iQOO 15, the iQOO 16 offers:

• Newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (2 nm) vs Gen 5 (3 nm)
• 165 Hz Samsung M16 OLED panel versus 144 Hz M14
• 8,400 mAh battery versus 7,000 mAh
• Similar triple‑camera resolution (50 MP each)

Thus, for roughly the same price, the iQOO 16 delivers a newer processor, higher refresh‑rate display and larger battery.

Should you wait or buy the iQOO 15?

If you need a phone immediately, the iQOO 15 remains a solid flagship, especially if you can find a sale discount. If you can wait a few weeks for official confirmation of the iQOO 16’s India launch and pricing, the leaked specifications suggest a meaningful upgrade for a comparable cost.
