PyCharm utilizes a file-based caching system to power code completion, syntax highlighting, and refactoring tools. In large-scale projects, there is a potential for a discrepancy between the current state of the source code on disk and the IDE's internal indices, particularly when files are modified by external processes or during version updates.

While the File > Invalidate Caches... utility provides a manual reset, there is no documented mechanism for the IDE to automatically detect and flag a corrupted or stale cache state to the user before it impacts code insight accuracy.
