Premiere Pro Preferences Require Manual Reset After a Failed 24.1 Upgrade

The goal is to restore Premiere Pro functionality after a failed upgrade while retaining as much of the user‑customized workspace, keyboard shortcuts, and preset configurations as possible.

When an upgrade leaves the application unable to start, the only supported recovery is a full preference reset triggered by holding Alt+Shift (Windows) or Option+Shift (Mac) at launch. This process deletes all custom preference data, and Adobe’s documentation does not provide a method to identify or reset only the corrupted entries, nor does it describe a safe way to back up and restore individual preference subsets after the reset.
