Git Integration in PyCharm 2026.1: Unresolved Credential Revocation Notification

PyCharm stores Git personal access tokens (PATs) in the operating‑system keychain, but the IDE does not notify users when a token is revoked on the hosting service. The cached entry remains until the user deletes it manually, causing silent checkout failures.
When a PAT expires or is revoked, PyCharm prompts for credentials but may silently retry with the stale cached token, leading to intermittent failures without user awareness.
There is no built‑in UI to rotate or revoke PATs, and least‑privilege scopes are not enforced by the IDE; the token’s permissions are entirely server‑side.
Is there a plan to implement a revocation notification or automatic credential clearance in future releases? How can developers enforce least‑privilege scopes within PyCharm’s Git integration? Can PyCharm be configured to detect token expiration and prompt for a fresh credential automatically?

Use native OS credential helper and Prompt on authentication failure causes PyCharm to ask for new credentials after a failed attempt.Settings/Preferences | Version Control | Git.Use native OS credential helper is checked.Prompt on authentication failure is enabled.github.com).git pull). If you have already enabled the settings above and still experience silent retries, let us know whether you are using HTTPS or SSH for your remote URLs, as the behavior can differ slightly between them.
