In this worked case, a printer produces its own test page after a router change. Windows still shows the original queue, and application print jobs remain pending. The printer may have received a different network address. Should the team replace the driver immediately?

Compare the printer’s current network configuration with the queue’s configured connection. A device-generated test page confirms part of the printer hardware path; it does not verify the Windows network route or queue target. Establish connectivity and the intended queue before changing the driver.

If the connection needs correction, preserve settings and use the supported Windows and manufacturer procedure. Verify a Windows test page and the original application’s print job. Clear pending work only with awareness that queued jobs can be lost, especially for shared printers.

Could a duplicate queue cause the application to keep using the old connection?

Yes. Check the selected printer in the application and compare duplicate queue names and connection settings before removing either one.

When a driver update is actually needed, use Windows Update or the exact device manufacturer’s supported package. Avoid unrelated driver-updater utilities and similarly named printer models.
