Does WithPagination maintain state during concurrent property updates?

When managing large datasets in Livewire, the WithPagination trait is used to integrate Laravel's LengthAwarePaginator. This ensures that the pagination state persists across AJAX requests and updates the URL query string automatically.
A design uncertainty arises when a component must simultaneously handle pagination and filter a dataset via reactive properties. If a user changes a filter value while on page five, the expected behavior is typically a reset to page one to avoid empty result sets, yet the trait is designed to maintain the current page index.
Which mechanism is most efficient for forcing a pagination reset when specific bounding query parameters change? Does Livewire provide a native hook to synchronize property mutations with the paginator state?

WithPagination does maintain the current page index during concurrent property updates—it preserves the page query parameter across AJAX re-renders. However, it does not provide a native hook to reset that state when filter properties change. The most efficient mechanism is to assign $this->page = 1 inside the updated lifecycle hook for the affected property.
The trait's design goal is persistence: the page number survives component re-renders and is reflected in the URL. It does not inspect other public properties to decide whether the current page remains valid. If a filter narrows the result set so that page 5 no longer exists, the paginator will still request page 5 unless you intervene.
This behavior is consistent across Livewire 2 and 3. The guidance below assumes standard Eloquent pagination via paginate() or simplePaginate(); custom paginator implementations may require additional checks.
Use the updated hook to reset the page before the next render cycle. This avoids unnecessary queries on stale offsets.
class ProductTable extends Component
{
use WithPagination;
public string $category = '';
public function updatedCategory($value)
{
$this->page = 1;
}
public function render()
{
return view('livewire.product-table', [
'products' => Product::query()
->when($this->category, fn($q) => $q->where('category_id', $this->category))
->paginate(15),
]);
}
}
?page=4.page property should be 1.$this->page inside the updated hook to confirm the assignment runs before the query executes.If the page still does not reset, verify that no JavaScript or Alpine expression is re-emitting the old page value after the server round-trip.
