Can a Notion workspace owner verify that database relations and formulas survive a backup restore?

The owner wants to confirm that after exporting a Notion workspace and re‑importing the backup, database relations, formula properties, and permission settings remain functionally equivalent to the original state.
Native exports flatten databases into Markdown, HTML, or CSV files that omit relation properties, formula definitions, and granular permission data, while the re‑import creates new pages with fresh IDs, breaking internal links unless they are rebuilt. Because Notion provides no built‑in backup integrity report or diff mechanism, the owner must decide what evidence constitutes a successful recovery.
Which metrics can be used to confirm that relation links are intact after re‑import? Does comparing row counts and property schemas suffice to detect missing formulas? How can permission sets be validated without a native diff tool?

A workspace owner cannot verify the survival of relations, formulas, and permissions using native Notion exports (Markdown, HTML, or CSV), as these formats flatten data and strip out the underlying logic and IDs. However, verification is possible by using the Notion API to capture a baseline of computed values and schemas before the restore, then comparing them against the restored state.
Because native exports do not preserve formula definitions or relation IDs, a standard "import" creates new pages with fresh IDs, which breaks existing internal links. Furthermore, the Notion API provides the result of a formula but not the raw formula string itself. Therefore, you cannot perform a text-based diff of the logic; you can only verify that the output remains consistent for the same input data.
GET /v1/databases/{database_id}/query to export the current schema and a sample of row values (including computed formula results) to a JSON file.GET /v1/blocks/{block_id}/shared_with to verify the user list and manually confirm roles. Are you using a third-party backup tool or Notion's native "Export all workspace content" feature? If using a third-party tool, the verification method may change based on whether that tool preserves internal UUIDs.
