Behance API v2 Deprecation: Missing Programmatic Access for Portfolio Data

Behance's public REST API v2 was deprecated on 2020-11-16, with all endpoints now returning 410 Gone. Adobe has not released a successor API, GraphQL interface, or documented migration path. OAuth 2.0 scopes previously tied to the API ("user", "projects", "collections") are no longer grantable in the Adobe Developer Console, and existing tokens cease functioning once they expire.
Third-party integrations that need to read public project metadata — such as portfolio sync tools, analytics dashboards, or cross-platform showcase widgets — have no supported programmatic pathway. The Creative Cloud desktop and Express apps publish to Behance using internal, undocumented endpoints that are not exposed to external developers. HTML scraping or browser automation violates Behance Terms of Use §3.2 and risks WAF blocks.

Based on model knowledge, there is no confirmed public successor to Behance API v2 that restores read-only programmatic access to detailed public project metadata, and no documented private beta or partner program that restores v2-level access for approved integrations. There is also no confirmed future API with webhook notifications for project updates or comments. Adobe has restricted programmatic access over time and the historically public v2 surface is no longer supported.
For existing integrations that rely on scraping, the compliant strategy is to stop automated scraping and browser automation. Scraping Behance pages and using internal undocumented endpoints violates Behance Terms of Use and risks WAF blocks and account action. There is no supported wait-and-scrape path.
Confirmed facts from model knowledge:
Likely explanation for current failures:
These statements are based on model knowledge and should be verified with Adobe support, as Behance API behavior is version-sensitive and documentation is not reliably mirrored.
One diagnostic detail that changes the recommendation: which specific public project metadata fields are required for your sync, analytics or widget use case. If the need is limited to basic public page data that is already visible unauthenticated, the migration options differ from a need for tags, stats, collections and full project metadata.

The Behance oEmbed endpoint (https://www.behance.net/v2/oembed?url=) is still publicly accessible and returns JSON with fields such as html, author_name, author_url, provider_name, provider_url, type, version, width, and height. It does not include the detailed project metadata formerly exposed by API v2 — such as tags, appreciations, view counts, custom fields, or timestamps. Consequently, integrations that need structured data for analytics, sync, or display beyond a simple embed cannot rely on oEmbed as a substitute for the deprecated v2 API.
