Why 'వేణు మాధవ్' Trended in India: Udaya Bhanu's Emotional Interview About the Late Comedian

The Telugu name వేణు మాధవ్ (Venu Madhav) appeared on Google Trends India's trending list during the 24-hour period starting 17 September 2026, with roughly 2,000 approximate searches and 400% growth, as observed on 18 September 2026. The late comedian and mimicry artist, who died on 25 September 2019, is not back in the news because of any new event — the spike traces to a recent interview in which anchor Udaya Bhanu, his close friend and former co-host, spoke emotionally about his final years, the rumours around his health, and her memories of choreographer Rakesh Master.

What Udaya Bhanu said about Venu Madhav

In an interview covered by Asianet News Telugu on 18 September 2026, Udaya Bhanu recalled that she and Venu Madhav shared a warm friendship from early in her career and hosted many comedy shows together. She said that when organisers warned her against inviting him as a judge, claiming he was drinking and collapsing, she called him directly. He denied the rumours, but she still urged him to take care of his health and give up such habits — a warning she says he did not follow. She became emotional recalling that news of his death arrived some days later.

Samayam Telugu reported the same interview on 17 September 2026, noting that Venu Madhav was among the highest-paid Telugu comedians of his era, a popular mimicry artist, and a familiar face on TV shows such as 'Dance Baby Dance' and 'Once More Please', the latter of which he co-hosted with Udaya Bhanu.

The Rachcha set incident he once denied

The Asianet report also revisited an older interview in which Venu Madhav himself addressed rumours that he had collapsed drunk on the set of the Ram Charan film 'Rachcha'. His version: he had skipped dinner and breakfast amid back-to-back shoots, felt dizzy and fainted — and people who disliked him turned that one incident into a story that he was collapsing drunk on every set. Readers should treat both versions as reported statements, not independently verified facts.

Rakesh Master memories added to the surge

The same interview touched on choreographer Rakesh Master, who died recently. Per TV9 Telugu (18 September 2026), Udaya Bhanu described him as a generous guru who shaped star choreographers including Sekhar Master and Jani Master, and as someone who fed many despite having little himself. This second emotional thread widened the interview's circulation across Telugu media.

Reading the trend carefully

Two cautions apply. First, Google Trends confirms search interest only — roughly 2,000 searches is a modest spike, and it says nothing about whether any claim is true. Second, the reports disagree on Venu Madhav's age at death: Asianet says 49, Samayam says 39, while both agree he died on 25 September 2019 after illness. Biographical details beyond the death date should be treated cautiously. The trend is nostalgia driven by an interview, not breaking news about the actor.
