Why 'sonyliv' Trended: Real Kashmir Football Club Emmy Nod

Why Sony LIV trended in India

Searches for sonyliv jumped roughly 600% in India on 24–25 September 2026, after Sony LIV's sports drama Real Kashmir Football Club earned a nomination at the International Emmy Awards 2026. The nominations were announced on Wednesday, 24 September 2026, with India earning two nominations in total, according to The Hindu.

What the nomination means

The series was nominated in the Drama Series category, where it competes alongside A Thousand Blows, Careme and Menem. It stars Manav Kaul and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and tells the true story of a journalist and a businessman who teamed up to start a first-of-its-kind football club in Kashmir, aiming to give young people a sense of purpose. The show was directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and Mahesh Mathai and premiered on the streamer in December 2025, per The Hindu.

India's second nomination

Alongside Real Kashmir Football Club, Vir Das's Netflix stand-up special Fool Volume received a nomination in the Comedy category. It is his third International Emmy nomination, making him the only Indian to be nominated thrice; his earlier nods came in 2021 for Vir Das: For India and in 2023 for Vir Das: Landing, for which he won an Emmy.

Search spike details

Google Trends recorded approximately 1,000 searches for "sonyliv" in India, with about 600% growth over the prior 24 hours, as observed on 25 September 2026. Trending counts are approximate and measure search curiosity, not the truth of any news claim. Such spikes are typical when a platform's content receives international award recognition, prompting both new viewers and existing subscribers to look up the show or the service.

What this means for viewers

It is important to note that a nomination is not a win. The ceremony date and the eventual Drama Series winner were not covered in the supplied reports, so readers should check the official International Academy (iemmys.tv) announcement for the final results.
