Why 'hotstar' and 'jio hostar' Searches Spiked in India: Bigg Boss Telugu 10 Captaincy Steal and Immunity Results Explained

Searches for hotstar and the common misspelling jio hostar rose sharply across India in the 24 hours to October 4, 2026. Google Trends India listed the term as trending with roughly 50,000 approximate searches and 500% growth, according to the platform’s Trending Now data observed at 08:29 UTC on that date. The timing lines up with the October 2 episode of Bigg Boss Telugu Season 10, which featured a captaincy twist and immunity announcements that sent viewers looking for the full episode or written updates.

What the Google Trends signal shows

As of 2026-10-04T08:29:49.667Z, the Google Trends India entry for “hotstar” included the keywords hotstar and jio hostar over a past-24-hour window. The data recorded approximateSearches of 50,000 and growthPercent of 500. Google’s own note attached to the signal states that Trending Now counts are approximate search activity, that Explore interest is normalized from 0 to 100, and that neither measures website visits. In other words, the spike confirms search interest, not the truth of any news claim or actual streaming numbers.

The Bigg Boss Telugu 10 episode behind the searches

The Day 26 episode of Bigg Boss Telugu Season 10 aired on October 2, 2026. After the Bairava Red team won two team tasks, five members were chosen as captaincy contenders: Varshini, Jhansi, Ram Prasad, Apoorva and Aman. The “Path to Power” task had three stages; Aman completed the final stage first and was declared the winner, making him the week’s captain.

The twist came immediately afterwards. Varshini used a secret “magical power” to take the captaincy from Aman. Asianet News reported that she deployed the power at the exact moment Aman won, while ABP Desam described the power as “Grab Win,” allowing her to seize Aman’s captaincy. Namasthe Telangana also confirmed that Bigg Boss sent a special key after Varshini sought permission to use her magical power. Aman was left shocked, and Varshini later apologised to him while explaining that she had been on the back foot for a while.

Immunity results: Sudheer and Vamsi safe until Week 6

The same episode featured a “daggers” (dragers) immunity game. Contestants with daggers could compete for immunity, and those with two or more daggers could decide who received it. ABP Desam reported that Sudheer and Vamsi ultimately secured immunity, protecting them from nominations until the sixth week. Namasthe Telangana’s written update reached the same conclusion, noting that Bigg Boss announced Sudheer and Vamsi as the immunity winners for Week 6.

Why fans typed hotstar and jio hostar

Bigg Boss Telugu streams on Star Maa and JioHotstar. When a high-stakes episode ends on a cliffhanger or a rule change, viewers often search the platform name to find the full video, the next promo, or a written update. The misspelling jio hostar in the Trends data is a fast-typed variant of Jio Hotstar, which suggests the searchers were trying to reach the streaming app rather than looking for general news.

Search interest is not proof of viewership

It is important to separate the two facts. The Google Trends signal is dated October 4, 2026, and measures approximate search activity over 24 hours. The episode reports are dated October 2-3, 2026. The alignment of timing makes the captaincy steal a plausible trigger, but the 50,000 figure is not a count of episode views, subscribers, or unique users. It only tells us that more people than usual typed hotstar or jio hostar into Google during that window.
