Why केंद्रीय औद्योगिक सुरक्षा बल (CISF) Trended: New Cybersecurity Training for Critical Infrastructure
The term केंद्रीय औद्योगिक सुरक्षा बल trended following the completion of a 12-week cybersecurity and incident response training for 40 CISF personnel at NFSU Delhi to protect critical infrastructure.

The term केंद्रीय औद्योगिक सुरक्षा बल (Central Industrial Security Force or CISF) saw a significant spike in search interest across India on 8–9 October 2026. This trend was driven by the conclusion of a high-level, specialised training programme designed to shield India's most sensitive installations from digital threats.
Strengthening Cyber Defences at NFSU Delhi
From 13 July to 8 October 2026, 40 CISF personnel, specifically drawn from various Airport Security Groups (ASGs), underwent a rigorous 12-week training programme on “Cybersecurity and Incident Response”. The course was hosted at the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, part of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) Delhi Campus in Rohini [1].
The initiative reflects a strategic shift toward integrating digital forensics and network security into the physical security mandates of the force. The valedictory ceremony held on 8 October 2026 was attended by senior officials, including NFSU Deputy Director Minakshi Sinha, Colonel Nidhish Bhatnagar, and CISF AIG Subrat Jha [2].
Curriculum and Real-World Exposure
Rather than relying solely on classroom theory, the programme focused on operational capabilities. The curriculum was structured to cover the evolving cyber threat landscape, system and network security, and the technicalities of digital forensics.
To ensure the trainees could apply these skills in high-pressure environments, the CISF personnel visited several critical infrastructure organisations and specialised agencies:
- IFSO: Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations for strategic cyber intelligence.
- CFSL: Central Forensic Science Laboratory for digital evidence gathering.
- POWERGRID & DMRC: Practical exposure to securing power grids and metro rail systems.
- UIDAI: Insights into securing large-scale biometric and identity databases.
Why This Matters for National Security
The केंद्रीय औद्योगिक सुरक्षा बल is responsible for protecting critical assets like airports, seaports, and government buildings. As these facilities become increasingly reliant on IoT and networked systems, they become targets for cyber-attacks. By training personnel in incident response, the CISF aims to reduce the time between the detection of a breach and its resolution, ensuring that essential services like air travel and power distribution remain uninterrupted.
During the closing ceremony, officials emphasised that this is not a one-time event but a need for "continuous enhancement of cyber capabilities" to effectively translate academic knowledge into operational practice [1].
