Notification release and application window
The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission published the Group IV notification on 6 October 2026 and opened the online form the next day. Candidates can submit applications through the official portal tnpsc.gov.in until 11:59 PM on 5 November 2026. A three‑day correction window will be available from 9 to 11 November.
Exam schedule
The single‑stage written test is set for 10 January 2027, running from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM in offline mode. The merit list will be based solely on this exam.
Vacancy breakdown
The drive covers 6,574 posts spread over 46 categories. The largest single block is 2,610 Junior Assistant (Non‑Security) positions. Other sizable groups include 856 Typist posts, 422 Junior Assistant (Accounts) and 291 Village Administrative Officer roles. Field‑oriented posts such as 40 Forest Watchers and one Forest Guard with Driving Licence are also included. The total is provisional and may change before counselling.
Eligibility varies by post code
Not every post shares the same qualification. Many Junior Assistant and VAO posts require only the minimum general education (SSLC pass). Others demand a degree, B.Com, typewriting, shorthand or computer certificates. The Forest Guard with Driving Licence post calls for higher secondary with specific science subjects, a valid driving licence and prescribed driving experience. Applicants must verify eligibility against each post code rather than assuming one qualification covers all 46 categories. Minimum age is 18 years for most posts; VAO candidates must be at least 21, with a general‑category ceiling of 30 years and standard reservations.
Fees, One‑Time Registration and field‑post choice
The examination fee is ₹100 (exemptions apply). First‑time users must complete One‑Time Registration (OTR) for ₹150, valid for five years; existing OTR holders should confirm their registration is current. Within the application form, candidates must explicitly choose whether they want to be considered for all posts, including the two field categories (Forest Guard and Forest Watcher), or only for the remaining posts. This selection cannot be altered later.
Search interest
Google Trends recorded roughly 500 searches for the term in India on 7 October 2026 with about 50 % growth over the previous day, indicating heightened candidate interest. The application window remains open until 5 November, but early filing avoids last‑minute portal congestion.
