Prasidh Krishna’s hamstring injury and its immediate impact
During the second ODI in Guwahati, fast bowler Prasidh Krishna suffered a left hamstring strain and could bowl only five overs, returning figures of 1/45 as West Indies posted a record 405/7.[1] India chased down the target in 43.3 overs to win by eight wickets, taking an unassailable 2‑0 lead in the three‑match series.
Anshul Kamboj called up for the dead‑rubber ODI
Because of the injury, Prasidh Krishna was ruled out of the third and final ODI in Mullanpur (Chandigarh) scheduled for 3 October 2026. The BCCI drafted Anshul Kamboj, who was playing for India A against Australia A in Puducherry, as his replacement.[2] Kamboj had bowled 17.3 overs and taken three wickets in the first innings of that India A match before being parachuted to Chandigarh. Naman Dhir replaces Washington Sundar in the T20I squad
The injury also affects India’s upcoming five‑match T20I series against West Indies, which begins in Lucknow on 6 October 2026. Washington Sundar has been withdrawn from the T20I squad and replaced by Naman Dhir.[2] This move is linked to the forthcoming Test tour to New Zealand, allowing Sundar to play red‑ball cricket for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy. What this means for India’s bowling plans
With Prasidh Krishna out, the ODI bowling attack now relies on Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and the newcomer Anshul Kamboj. In the T20I side, the spin axis retains Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, while Naman Dhir adds all‑round depth. The table below summarises the key changes.
