Applicants must be 21 to 30 years old as on 1 October 2026, with age relaxation as per applicable government rules. A graduate or postgraduate degree in the relevant field is required, and marks criteria vary by stream. For example, Generalist, Finance, Legal, IT, Automobile and other specialist streams generally require 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates). Exact educational requirements differ by discipline, so candidates should check the official notification for their specific stream.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
Selection happens in three stages: Phase-I prelims, Phase-II mains, and interview. Phase-I is an online objective test of 100 marks with 100 questions across English Language (30 marks), Reasoning Ability (35 marks) and Quantitative Aptitude (35 marks). Candidates who clear prelims appear for mains, and final merit depends on mains and interview performance.
Salary and Pay Scale
The starting basic pay is Rs. 82,485. The pay scale runs from Rs. 82,485-4,050(14)-1,39,185-4,390(4)-1,56,745. Total monthly emoluments are around Rs. 1,14,000 in metropolitan centres, including applicable allowances and benefits.
Previous Year Cutoff Trends (2024 Cycle)
Cutoff figures below are from the 2024 recruitment cycle and may change in 2026 depending on exam difficulty and competition. In 2024, Generalist stream cutoffs were close to 80 marks for UR, OBC and EWS candidates, while specialist streams such as Finance, IT and Legal recorded lower overall cutoffs in the 37-66 mark range. Sectional qualifying marks also applied; for Generalist UR/EWS candidates, these were approximately 16.25 in English, 11 in Reasoning and 10.5 in Quantitative Aptitude. Final selection is not based on Phase-I alone; Phase-II mains and interview scores determine the final merit.
