Overview
The Mahindra Thar OG, launched in September 2026, is the updated version of the second‑generation Thar SUV. CarDekho notes that the model brings an updated fascia, new interiors and added safety equipment.
Pricing and Variants
The Thar OG is offered in three trims – AXT, LXT and ZXT. CarDekho states that the AXT starts at Rs 10.32 lakh (ex‑showroom), the LXT begins at Rs 12.99 lakh and the ZXT range runs from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 18.99 lakh for the top‑spec configuration.
Powertrain Options
Three engines are available, each with manual or automatic transmission (except the 1.5 L diesel which is manual only):
- 2.0‑litre mStallion turbo‑petrol – 162 PS, 330 Nm
- 2.2‑litre mHawk diesel – 152 PS, 330 Nm
- 1.5‑litre diesel – 119 PS, 300 Nm

Exterior changes include a revised grille with ‘Thar’ badging and LED headlamps with C‑shaped DRLs, LED fog lamps on the fender, a front bumper with silver inserts, squared‑off black elements, side latches on the bonnet, new 19‑inch dual‑tone alloy wheels on higher trims, a rear bumper with silver accents and vertical reflectors, spare alloy wheel on the tailgate, updated LED taillamps borrowed from the Thar Roxx, and new ‘OG’ badging on the tailgate. Two new colours – Artemis Grey and Jeans Blue – join the existing six shades.
Safety and Convenience
Safety equipment comprises six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), hill‑hold control, all‑wheel disc brakes, front and rear parking sensors, rear‑view camera, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Convenience features add a wireless phone charger, push‑button start/stop, drive modes, cruise control, manual AC, USB Type‑C ports and a 6‑speaker sound system.
How It Differs from the Previous Thar
Compared with the 2020‑generation Thar, the OG model receives a stiffer platform, a PENTALINK rear suspension with DAVINCI damping, electric steering, an electronic locking differential, updated interior tech (larger touchscreen, wireless charging, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay), refreshed exterior styling with new LED lighting and alloy wheels, and expanded colour choices.
