The Kottayam Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) has ordered a total compensation of approximately ₹1.77 crore for the family of the late Malayalam actor and comedian കൊല്ലം സുധി (Kollam Sudhi). The verdict, delivered on September 30, 2026, provides legal closure three years after the tragic road accident that claimed the artist's life.

The tribunal, led by Judge JD Prasoon Mohan, established a base compensation amount of ₹1,41,09,840. According to Kerala Kaumudi, the total figure rises to approximately ₹1.77 crore when including an 8.5% interest rate calculated from the date the case was filed until the date of deposit. The court has directed the New India Assurance Company, the third respondent in the case, to deposit the full amount within 30 days.

The eligible dependents who will receive this compensation include Sudhi's wife, mother, and two children. Legal representatives for the petitioners noted that this award is one of the highest amounts granted to dependents in motor accident cases in Kerala, reflecting the actor's active professional status at the time of his death and the resulting financial crisis faced by his family.

The legal battle stems from a fatal accident on June 5, 2023. As reported by Manorama News, Kollam Sudhi and his team were returning from a program in Vadakara, Kozhikode, when their car collided with a pickup van at Panambikkunnu, Kaippamangalam, in Thrissur. While Sudhi succumbed to his injuries, other television stars including Binu Adimali, Ullas Arur, and Mahesh were also injured in the crash.
