BCCI Selection Committee Shake-up
The announcement comes during a period of leadership transition within the BCCI's senior men's selection committee. Ajit Agarkar's tenure as chairman officially ended on October 4, 2026 [2]. Head coach Gautam Gambhir praised Agarkar's legacy, noting the three ICC trophies won during his term.
Currently, former India spinner Pragyan Ojha is serving as the interim chairman of selectors [2]. Ojha presided over the meeting that finalized the New Zealand tour squads. While he holds the interim role, his potential permanent appointment may depend on the seniority of the final candidate chosen by the BCCI, as the board has officially invited applications to fill the vacant permanent position.
India A Squad and Multi-Day Matches
Alongside the senior T20I team, the BCCI announced the India A squad, which will play three Multi-Day matches against New Zealand A between October 24 and November 10, 2026 [1]. The India A team is captained by wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel and includes players such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant (subject to fitness).
