IBPS PO Result 2026: Prelims Result Declared, 7,565 Posts and Mains Status

The IBPS PO result 2026 for the preliminary stage was declared on 23 September 2026, and the search spike that followed was about one question: does my roll number appear on the list, and what happens next? This guide explains how to check the IBPS PO prelims result 2026 on ibps.in, what the qualifying result does and does not show, and where the 7,565-post CRP PO/MT-XVI recruitment stands.

Timing note: this article is written on 11 October 2026. The prelims result is now roughly two-and-a-half weeks old, and the Mains exam was scheduled for 4 October 2026. Treat the dates below as a record of the published schedule and a pointer to the official source, not as a live result alert.

IBPS PO result 2026: key dates at a glance

Amar Ujala reported on 23 September 2026 that the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) had declared the result that day for candidates who wrote the prelims on 22 and 23 August 2026. Prabhat Khabar, updating the same evening, described it as the prelims result for the PO and Management Trainee CRP PO/MT-XVI recruitment cycle. Jagran's education desk carried the story with a 24 September dateline, a day after the first reports.

How to check the IBPS PO prelims result on ibps.in

The result is a login-gated page, not a public PDF list, so you need your credentials ready. The steps described in the Amar Ujala report are:

1. Open the official IBPS website, ibps.in.
2. Go to the CRP PO/MT section on the home page.
3. Click the link for the IBPS PO Prelims Result 2026.
4. Enter your registration number or roll number, plus your password or date of birth.
5. Fill in the captcha and submit.
6. Check your eligibility status on screen and download the result.

Only ibps.in is the official source. Third-party result mirrors cannot be verified and are best avoided, especially when they ask for personal details.

What the prelims result tells you — and what it doesn't

The prelims result is a qualifying screen. It confirms whether you have been shortlisted for the Mains stage; it is not a scorecard. According to the details published at the time, the page typically carries your name, roll or registration number, the exam name and stage, eligibility status, category, selection status for Mains and instructions for the next stage.

Marks and cut-offs follow separately. Amar Ujala noted that the prelims marksheet would be released separately, with the cut-off issued alongside it or afterwards. So a candidate who sees only 'qualified' or 'not qualified' has not yet seen the full picture.

7,565 posts, Mains and the road to interview

The recruitment is being run for 7,565 posts in the CRP PO/MT-XVI cycle, covering Probationary Officer and Management Trainee vacancies across participating public sector banks. One wording caveat worth knowing: Amar Ujala describes the figure as 7,565 posts, while Jagran's report phrases it as 7,565 candidates to be selected. Candidates should confirm the number against the original CRP PO/MT-XVI advertisement rather than relying on secondary reports.

The Mains stage was scheduled for 4 October 2026, with a separate admit card to be issued by IBPS. Preparation for that paper covers reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English, general/economy/banking awareness and descriptive English. Those who clear Mains move to the interview stage.

Why 'ibps po result' trended in India

Google Trends India listed 'ibps po result' as a trending term with about 10,000 approximate searches and 1000% growth over the past 24 hours, observed on 24 September 2026 — the day after the declaration. Related queries included 'ibps po prelims result', 'ibps po pre result' and 'ibps po result 2026 prelims'.

Two clarifications matter here. Trending volume is approximate search activity, not website traffic, and it confirms interest in the topic rather than the accuracy of any claim circulating about it. The trend also peaked in late September; it is not a signal that a fresh result has been released in October.

What candidates should do now

Since the Mains exam date has passed, the useful action is to track ibps.in for Mains admit card, exam and result updates rather than revisiting the prelims page. Keep your registration number, roll number and date of birth handy, and check the official notification for any revision to the published schedule before acting on it.
