Why Hyundai trended in India late September 2026
Search interest for "hyundai" surged in India around 28 September 2026, coinciding with the opening of bookings for the new Bayon crossover. Google Trends data observed on 28 September 2026 showed approximately 10,000 searches in the past 24 hours with an 800% growth signal for the term, reflecting buyer queries about the launch rather than a new product announcement.
The trend is anchored to Hyundai Motor India Limited’s official move to open bookings for the Bayon on 23 September 2026. The company positioned the model as an Intelligent Utility Vehicle between the sub-4m Venue and the Creta in its India lineup.
Bookings, launch timeline and pricing expectations
Hyundai Motor India Limited announced the commencement of bookings for the upcoming Bayon on 23 September 2026. Bookings are accepted online via hyundai.co.in and at authorised dealerships with an initial amount of INR 11,000. Delivery timelines are to be communicated at launch, with the official launch expected in October 2026 for the festive season.
Hyundai has confirmed the Bayon will be built on the Global K Enhanced Platform engineered for 5-star Indian safety standards and will feature an in-built generative AI voice assistant as part of its "Intelligence That Moves" philosophy. The SUV is stated to be 4.2 m long with a wide SUV stance, geometric wheel arches and bridge-type roof rails.
Pricing has not been officially confirmed by Hyundai. CarDekho reports an expected ex-showroom range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, which remains an estimate until the company announces official prices at launch.
Confirmed specs and powertrain
Hyundai confirms the India-spec Bayon will use its proven 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol powertrain. The engine is offered with a choice of manual transmission and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission, described as smooth for city traffic and highway cruising.
From the Creta-sourced unit, the 1.5-litre NA petrol is rated at 115 PS and 144 Nm. The Bayon slots between Venue and Creta and is expected to take on Maruti Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, MG Astor and Hyundai’s own Creta.
