Google Fitbit Air India launch: date, price and availability
Google's screenless Fitbit Air health tracker went on sale in India on 2 October 2026, priced at ₹13,999. According to The Hindu, it is Google's smallest and lightest Fitbit tracker, and it is available through the Google Store, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, Vijay Sales and other retail partners across the country. Google had confirmed the India launch back in August at its Pixel 11 event, but only revealed the price closer to the sale date.
Search interest reflected the launch buzz: Google Trends data observed on 1 October 2026 showed roughly 20,000 searches for "google fitbit air" in India over 24 hours, an 800% growth spike. That confirms curiosity, not sales numbers — but it shows Indian buyers are paying attention to the screenless tracker category.
What the Fitbit Air actually does
The Fitbit Air has no display and no buttons. Every reading is sent to the Google Health app on your phone, keeping the pebble-shaped device on the wrist out of the way. Its sensor stack covers:
- 24/7 continuous heart rate and resting heart rate
- Heart rate variability (HRV) and irregular heart rhythm (Afib) notifications
- Blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring
- Detailed sleep stages and duration tracking
- Automatic activity and workout detection
Battery life is rated at up to seven days on a single charge, and a five-minute top-up delivers a full day of use — useful for a device meant to stay on through the night. The tracker works with Android 11 or higher and iOS 16.4 or higher, and setup requires a Google Account with the Google Health app, so both Android and iPhone users in India are covered.
Bands, colours and the Google Health Premium catch
Buyers can pick from four colours — Obsidian, Berry, Lavender and Fog. A micro-adjustable Performance Loop band made from recycled material comes in the box, with a sweatproof Active Band for workouts and a dressier Elevated Modern Band sold as options.
Every unit includes a three-month free trial of Google Health Premium, which unlocks the full Google Health Coach experience — personalised guidance, guided sessions and even phone-camera logging of gym equipment. The important caveat: once the trial ends, continued access requires a paid subscription. The Economic Times notes that the free trial "only delays the subscription question rather than solving it."
How it stacks up against rivals in India
| Tracker | Price (₹) | Subscription |
|---|---|---|
| Google Fitbit Air | 13,999 | Required after 3-month trial |
| Noise REP Band | 9,999 | None |
| Amazfit Helio Strap | 8,999 | None |
| Whoop (unofficial) | ~28,000 | Mandatory yearly plan |
On price, the Fitbit Air sits at the top end among officially launched screenless trackers in India. Its strongest argument is ecosystem: it ties into Google Health and pairs naturally with the Pixel Watch — Google even positions it as a lighter night-time swap for Pixel Watch owners so sleep data is never missed. For buyers already inside Google's setup, that integration may justify the premium; for everyone else, the subscription-free Noise and Amazfit options undercut it significantly.
