Configuration must be available to the application without exposing credentials in source control, logs or browser code. What belongs in the runtime and which access controls matter?

Define validated configuration schemas and distinguish public frontend variables from server-only values. A TypeScript interface does not keep a secret out of a browser bundle. Avoid widening external data to any or asserting a type merely to silence an incompatible input.
