Server-side resource cleanup during cancelled client navigations

Request Cancellation Behavior
Remix leverages the browser's Fetch API for data loading. When a user initiates a new navigation before a previous request completes, the browser cancels the pending fetch to prevent race conditions in the UI state.
Runtime Discrepancies
While the client-side state is managed, the behavior of the server-side handler depends on the deployment adapter. In Node.js or Edge environments, a dropped HTTP connection does not automatically terminate the execution of an asynchronous loader or action.
This creates a potential gap where long-running server processes continue to consume resources or perform side effects despite the client no longer awaiting the response.
- How can a developer explicitly detect a client-side cancellation within a Remix loader to stop expensive operations?
- Does the behavior of request termination differ significantly between Cloudflare Workers and standard Node.js adapters?
