Post visibility edit from Connections only to Public does not propagate to search index

Goal
Determine whether changing a published post's audience from Connections only to Public retroactively makes the content eligible for external search indexing and non-connection follower feeds.
Constraints and uncertainty
- The LinkedIn UI historically allows narrowing visibility (Public → Connections) but the behavior when broadening (Connections → Public) is not documented and appears inconsistent across web and mobile clients.
- Re-shares and comments inherit the original post's visibility constraints, so subsequent engagement cannot override the initial setting.
- Partner API endpoints expose a
visibilityfield (PUBLICvsCONNECTIONS), yet write access requires program approval, limiting programmatic verification. - Feed ranking means eligibility ≠ delivery; even if the edit succeeds, reach is not guaranteed.
Questions
- Does the UI currently permit editing a
Connections onlypost toPublic, and if so, does the change trigger re-indexing by external search engines? - Will non-connection followers who missed the post at publish time see it in their feed after the visibility edit?
- Are there observable differences in edit behavior between the web composer, mobile app, and the UGC Posts API for approved partners?
