Maya license activation stalls when Autodesk server DNS fails

Maya Licensing and DNS/Certificate Validation
The goal is to ensure that Maya can successfully acquire a network license from Autodesk’s licensing server. In many corporate environments the hostname (e.g., license.autodesk.com) cannot be resolved due to proxy or firewall restrictions, or the SSL certificate presented by the server is not trusted by the client’s OS.
When DNS resolution fails or the certificate chain is invalid, Maya logs error codes (e.g., 1001 for DNS, 2003 for certificate) but does not automatically switch to an offline or local license. The user must manually intervene, which can interrupt production workflows.
We need to understand the underlying behavior and potential configuration options:
- What DNS resolution mechanism does Maya’s licensing client use for
license.autodesk.com? - How does Maya validate the SSL certificate chain, and are custom trust stores supported?
- Is there a documented fallback path to a local license when network validation fails?
