Local‑time vs UTC timestamps in PuTTY session logs

Goal: allow administrators to select whether PuTTY writes session‑log timestamps in the client’s local time zone or in UTC, so logs are either immediately readable or uniformly comparable across systems.
Constraint: the current implementation hard‑codes localtime() in logging.c, with no command‑line flag or configuration option to override it; altering the behavior requires recompiling PuTTY and may break scripts that expect local‑time stamps.
Questions: Is it feasible to add a –tzlog switch that chooses UTC or a custom offset without breaking existing log parsers? What effect would forcing UTC have on PSCP/PSFTP file‑time displays that already convert remote UTC to local time? Should the default remain local‑time while providing an opt‑out for UTC?
