Background
Karate automatically records the full HTTP request and response when a step fails, and the karate.log system property toggles this output globally. The karate.env value is also included, which helps correlate failures with a specific environment.
Open questions
What are the practical limits of this logging behavior?
- Does the framework log request bodies for every HTTP method, or only for certain verbs?
- Are header values that may contain secrets automatically masked or redacted?
- Can the captured payload be truncated or omitted when it exceeds a size threshold?
