Individual identity validation failed without reason; Azure support wizard loops
1h ago
My US Individual/Public Artifact Signing identity-validation request shows Failed without a rejection reason.
The verification page reports that the link has already been used and directs me back to Artifact Signing. A separate verification session reported a timeout. I do not know whether these messages explain the Failed status.
When creating a Technical > Artifact Signing > Identity Validation - Individual > Validation Failed support request, I repeatedly reach unrelated recommended solutions about Azure DevOps XML and Operator Nexus. I have not reached Additional details or obtained a ticket number.
Could a Microsoft moderator advise:
- How can I obtain the actual identity-validation failure reason through an official private support channel?
- Can the existing request be recovered, or must it be replaced? Please confirm the supported procedure before I delete or recreate anything.
- How can I reach support when the portal wizard keeps returning to recommended solutions, and what support entitlement is required?
I can provide request identifiers through an official private support channel. I have deliberately omitted account identifiers, verification URLs, and identity documents from this public question.

The portal is showing generic recommended solutions that don’t expose the backend failure reason, and they won’t produce an “Additional details” section or a ticket number. At this point Microsoft staff can see the backend error.
Share the Identity Validation ID with Microsoft staff via a private channel (reply to the validation email or open a private Azure support request).
- If you received a Microsoft validation email: reply to that email and include the Identity Validation ID plus a one‑line description (e.g., “portal kept showing unrelated recommended articles; no Additional details or ticket number”). That email thread is the fastest private route to continue the same request.
- If you did not receive an email: open a private support request in the Azure portal: Help + support → New support request. In the description include the Identity Validation ID, tenant/organization name if applicable, and a short summary of the portal behavior. Do not attach identity documents, tenant IDs, verification URLs, or any PII in the public form; the ID is sufficient for staff to look up the backend record.
Do not delete or recreate the validation request until staff confirm the request state — the request may be closed after attempts are exhausted and could be unrecoverable.
