Focus does not return to editor after closing terminal in Replit IDE

When the terminal pane is closed in Replit’s IDE using the UI button or the keyboard shortcut, keyboard focus does not automatically return to the active editor pane.
The goal is to determine whether focus restoration should be handled by the IDE framework and what conditions must be met for it to occur reliably across supported browsers and operating systems.
Constraints include the lack of documented behavior in the current release notes, possible variations introduced by browser‑specific focus management, and the need to avoid interfering with screen‑reader navigation modes.
Is there a configuration or internal flag that controls focus return after terminal closure? Which DOM element should receive focus when the terminal is hidden? Does the expected behavior differ between Chrome, Firefox, and Safari on Windows, macOS, and Linux?
