Does disabling Public Links immediately revoke existing unauthenticated file URLs in Mattermost?

Goal
Determine the exact revocation behavior of existing public links when the Enable Public Links setting is turned off in the System Console.
Constraints and uncertainty
The feature is governed by the Enable Public Links and Public Links Admin Only settings. Public links can have an expiration period (default 7 days), but links created before expiration policies were applied may lack an expiry. Documentation does not state whether disabling the feature instantly invalidates all links or lets them survive until their individual expiration. Behavior may differ between Mattermost versions (pre‑/post‑v7.0) and between Team and Enterprise editions.
Questions
- Does turning off
Enable Public Linksinstantly invalidate every existing public link? - If not, do links remain accessible until their configured expiration timestamps?
- Are there version‑ or edition‑specific differences in this revocation behavior?
