A-Frame <a-assets> timeout handling: fail closed vs graceful degradation

During development of A-Frame scenes, assets referenced in must load before initialization. When assets are hosted locally or via data URIs without production credentials, missing or CORS‑blocked resources cause the scene to stall until the timeout expires or the load event fires.
The documented timeout attribute (milliseconds) lets the framework render the scene after the limit, logging a timeout error, but the default blocking behavior still prevents any rendering until all assets fire load events. This creates uncertainty for integrators who need deterministic failure detection without relying on visual inspection.
Should the default behavior remain fail‑closed to guarantee full loading? Is a short timeout sufficient for reliable testing without production credentials? How can 'error' and 'loaded' events be attached to asset items to confirm which outcome occurs?
