Finish a Codecademy Skill Path and Confirm the Completion Badge
A practical guide to finish a Codecademy Skill Path, explicitly mark lessons complete, submit the final project for review, and verify the badge and email confirmation with recovery steps for stuck progress.

You finished the last project, closed the tab, and the Skill Path still shows incomplete. The useful takeaway is that Codecademy marks a Skill Path complete only after every lesson, quiz and project is explicitly marked done and the final project is submitted for review, not just saved.
Desired outcome
Earn the Skill Path completion badge and have all associated exercises marked as finished in your learner dashboard. Completion is account-bound and visible on your profile Achievements section when profile visibility is public.
Prerequisites
A Codecademy account, free or Pro, with access to the specific Skill Path. Some Skill Paths are Pro-only; a free account may be blocked after a limited number of lessons.
Reliable internet for the web editor. Basic familiarity with the language or topic covered by the path helps avoid getting stuck on concepts rather than platform steps.
Browser that allows scripts on codecademy.com. Extensions that block scripts can interfere with the interactive editor and progress saving.
Focused procedure
Log in and open the Skill Path page. If you have not enrolled, enroll from the path overview. Enrollment adds the path to your learner dashboard.
Work through modules in order. Codecademy Skill Paths are sequential; later modules often assume completion of earlier ones.
- Open a lesson and complete the in-browser exercises. The editor autosaves work, but completion is separate from saving.
- Complete the quiz for the lesson when presented. Quizzes are required for progress.
- Use the Mark as complete control after each item passes checks. This is the step that updates the progress bar. Do not rely on closing the lesson.
- For projects, build the solution in the editor, then submit for review rather than just Save. Save stores draft work; Submit for review is what triggers path-level completion evaluation.
When the final project is submitted and reviewed, the path auto-marks as finished. Review timing varies by path and is not instantaneous.
Expected checks
Open your learner dashboard and locate the Skill Path. Verify the progress indicator shows 100% and the badge icon is filled.
Check your email inbox for a Codecademy completion message sent within a few minutes of finishing the final project. Email delivery depends on your account notification settings.
Visit your public profile page if profile visibility is set to public and confirm the Skill Path badge appears under Achievements.
If the badge is missing, repeat the final project submission and ensure you clicked Submit for review rather than just Save.
Recovery options
Lesson fails to save. Refresh the page and retry the exercise. Progress is tied to your account; avoid deleting the account as it erases completion data.
Internet loss during a session. The Codecademy mobile app supports offline work for some content and syncs later when connectivity returns. Verify sync completed in the dashboard.
Mistakenly skipped a module. Use the Reset progress option for that module to redo it. Reset changes state, so redo the module and re-mark items complete.
Multiple Skill Paths open at once can cause confusion about deadlines and progress. Focus on one path at a time to avoid missing required submissions.
Limitations
Completion status is account-specific. Switching accounts will not show prior progress.
Pro-gated content remains inaccessible on free accounts even after completing free lessons.
Current verification of UI labels and exact timing for review and email requires human review, as platform wording can change.
