Desired Outcome
Create an IFTTT applet that sends you an email every day at a specific time (for example, 08:00 AM) to remind you of a recurring task.
Prerequisites
- An IFTTT account (free or paid).
- The Email service connected to your IFTTT account (verify under
Services → Email). - Basic knowledge of your timezone; IFTTT uses the account’s timezone setting.
Procedure
- Log in to ifttt.com and click Create to start a new applet.
- Click the If This box, search for Date & Time, and choose the Every day at trigger.
- Set the desired time (e.g.,
08:00) and confirm that the timezone shown matches your local time. Click Create trigger. - Click the Then That box, search for Email, and select the Send me an email action.
- Customize the email subject and body. You can use ingredient fields like
{{OccurredAt}}to insert the trigger time. Example body:Reminder: It is {{OccurredAt}}. Please review your daily tasks. - Click Create action, then Finish to enable the applet.
Expected Checks
- Open the IFTTT Activity page (
https://ifttt.com/activity) and locate the newly created applet. - Wait until the next scheduled trigger time (or manually test by clicking Check now on the applet tile).
- Verify that an email arrives in the inbox associated with your Email service, containing the subject and body you defined.
- If the email does not appear, check the Activity log for error messages (e.g., authentication failure or rate‑limit notices).
Recovery Options
If the applet fails to send emails:
- Re‑authenticate the Email service: go to
Services → Email → Reconnectand follow the prompts. - Edit the applet to adjust the time or message content, then save.
- As a last resort, delete the applet (
My Applets → Select → Delete) and recreate it using the steps above.
Note on limitations: Free IFTTT accounts may experience a delay of up to 15 minutes between the scheduled trigger and the actual email delivery due to throttling. For time‑critical actions, consider a paid plan or an alternative automation platform.
